Ohme ePod

The Ohme ePod is a neat and tidy wall-mounted EV charger that puts many of the features we love about the Ohme Home Pro into an even smaller package!

We like… the small size that allows the charger to be tucked away in a discreet location, and the brilliant smart features of the Ohme app.

Best for… drivers who want the smart features (and energy tariff integration) of an Ohme charger, combined with the small and discreet looks of an untethered charging unit.

What is the charger like to use?

When not in use, the Ohme ePod looks rather discreet. The unit doesn’t take up much space on your wall, and being an untethered charger, you can simply remove the charging cable and store it away out of sight. This also gives you great flexibility when the time comes to charge up – you can choose a cable of any length and type to suit your needs, and simply plug this into the Type 2 socket on the front when needed.

The ePod doesn’t have a screen on the front (only its tethered counterpart, the Home Pro has one of those) but it does have an LED light bar which illuminates in different colours so that you can always see at a glance what the charger is doing.

There are also three handy touch-sensitive buttons on the front (play, pause, and stop) which allow you to control the charger with just the press of a button – no need to pull out your phone!

The charger can be set up to your preferred charging schedule using the Ohme app – or if you’re in a hurry, simply press and hold the ‘play’ button on the charger to activate max speed charging.

What is the app like to use?

The Ohme app is one of our favourites because it’s so slick, simple and easy to use. It’s easy to set up, link to your energy tariff to enable cheaper charging, and create charging schedules and routines to ensure that you always have the right amount of charge available to go about your daily business. (Of course, if you’re in a hurry you can also activate max speed charging.)

There’s also a useful overview of your energy usage (and costs) for each charging session and on an overall basis, putting all of your data at your fingertips.

The app even has an “Approve plug-in” feature that prevent access to the charger until you have approved access in the app – safeguarding you against sneaky power thieves.

What smart features are available?

The Ohme ePod has energy tariff integration, meaning that you can benefit from highly discounted off-peak energy from the likes of Intelligent Octopus and OVO Drive.

The charger is also solar compatible – meaning that if you have solar panels you can use excess solar energy to charge your car.
