The Ohme Home Pro is a wall-mounted EV charger with a tethered Type 2 charging cable, and a wealth of smart features.

Best for… drivers who want the smart features (and energy tariff integration) of an Ohme charger, combined with the convenience of a tethered charging unit.

What is the charger like to use?

When not in use, the Ohme Home Pro tidies away quite nicely. The tethered charging cable remains connected at all times (ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice) and can be wrapped around the unit and stored using the provided holder.

On the front of the Home Pro is an LCD screen which displays a plethora of information – everything from current charge status, charge target, end time, costs, and energy usage can be viewed on the charger. This is all easily controlled by the three touch-sensitive buttons below the screen.

In addition, the Home Pro comes equipped with two LED light bars which illuminate in different colours to let you know what the charger is doing at a quick glance.

The charger can be set up to your preferred charging schedule using the Ohme app (‘smart charging’) – or if you’re in a hurry, simply press the button on the charger to activate max speed charging.

What is the app like to use?

The Ohme app is one of our favourites because it’s so slick, simple and easy to use. It’s easy to set up, link to your energy tariff to enable cheaper charging, and create charging schedules and routines to ensure that you always have the right amount of charge available to go about your daily business. (Of course, if you’re in a hurry you can also activate max speed charging.)

There’s also a useful overview of your energy usage (and costs) for each charging session and on an overall basis, putting all of your data at your fingertips.

The app even has an “Approve plug-in” feature that prevent access to the charger until you have approved access in the app – safeguarding you against sneaky power thieves.

What smart features are available?

The Ohme Home Pro has energy tariff integration, meaning that you can benefit from highly discounted off-peak energy from the likes of Intelligent Octopus and OVO Drive.

The charger is also solar compatible – meaning that if you have solar panels you can use excess solar energy to charge your car.
